Food Freeze Dryer Buying Guide: Capacity, Tray Area, and Condenser Temperature

How to compare food freeze dryer machines using fresh-load capacity, usable tray area, tray layout, condenser temperature, voltage, and delivered cost.

Small Freeze Dryer

A food freeze dryer should be selected from the product and production plan—not from one headline capacity number. Fresh fruit, cooked meat, candy, pet treats, coffee ingredients, and prepared meals differ in water content, piece size, loading depth, and cycle time. Use the figures below as a practical comparison framework, then validate the final configuration with your own material.

Start with usable tray area

Fresh-load capacity is a useful range, but usable tray area often gives a clearer picture of how much product can be spread in a consistent layer. A deeper or denser load may increase kilograms per batch while also increasing drying time. When comparing two food freeze dryers, record both the stated fresh-load range and the square metres available for product.

Selection number What it tells you What to confirm
Fresh-load capacity A reference kilogram range per batch Water content, cut size, loading depth, and recipe
Usable tray area The surface available for an even product layer Number of trays and actual tray dimensions
Condenser temperature The selected low-temperature configuration Product target, ambient conditions, and process expectation
Electrical supply The voltage and current required on site Country, phase, plug or hard-wiring, and installation conditions

How to read the H Series range

The compact H Series begins with the SJ-05H at a reference 5–7 kg fresh load and 0.48 m² usable tray area. Larger small-production models add tray area and batch range. Commercial SJ-30H, SJ-35H, and SJ-50H configurations serve regular food production where workflow, loading consistency, receiving space, and daily output matter as much as a single batch.

Compare small food freeze dryers or compare commercial food freeze dryers. Every product page lists the model-specific capacity, drying area, condenser temperature, tray arrangement, dimensions, weight, electrical supply, control, and food-contact construction.

Understand -40°C, -55°C, and -60°C options

A colder condenser number is not automatically the best purchase for every food. The correct choice depends on material behaviour, product-temperature target, ambient conditions, process expectations, utilities, and budget. The H Series product pages show the actual option attached to each SKU so a buyer can compare like with like.

Plan the landed order, not only the machine

The online figure is the retail EXW equipment price. DDP delivery and import charges depend on the destination, shipment method, access and unloading conditions. Before ordering, provide the destination country, city, postal code, electrical supply, application, and expected batch quantity. This allows the quotation to separate equipment price and delivery scope clearly.
